"Twenty years ago I picked up a pair of scissors and never put them down. What started as a passion turned into art, and that art turned into The Barberhood. Every single day I walk into this shop I feel the same excitement I felt on day one.

For me everything in life is an art form. The way this shop is built, the way we welcome every client, the way every single cut is finished. Nothing here is accidental. I put my whole self into this place and you feel that the moment you walk in.

As a kid I grew up in Arnhem but Amsterdam is where I built my dream. Outside the shop you'll find me in the gym, on a walk with my dog Gula, at home with my daughter or on the dance floor somewhere in the city. I live life to the fullest and that same energy is what I show up with every single day behind the chair.

"Growing up in Vinkeveen, barbering wasn't exactly the obvious path. But from a young age I was always in the chair at The Barberhood, watching, learning and absorbing everything around me. Somewhere between those visits the passion and interest started growing. The moment I picked up a pair of scissors at seventeen, that was it for me. There was no going back.

Three years, a lot of practice and a daily commute to Amsterdam later, I wouldn't have it any other way. My favourite part of the job? Precision scissor work. There's nothing better than a perfectly finished cut where every detail is exactly right. Outside the shop you'll find me in the gym or on my motorcycle, always pushing, always improving.
